The Princess and the Goblin

By George MacDonald
Princess Irene never expected to find an old woman while exploring the upstairs of her castle home on the side of the mountain. And she certainly never expected to learn that this woman was her own grandmother!
Grandmother bestows Irene with a gift—a ring with a tiny thread attached to it—and tells her that if she is ever in danger, she must follow the thread wherever it leads.
Curdie the miner knows the goblins in the mountain are up to something. What he doesn’t know is that their treachery is meant for the lost little princess he met wandering through the woods last night.
Will Curdie find out what the goblins are planning? And will Irene’s ring save her from their schemes?
My Thoughts: The Princess and the Goblin is one of my favorite classics. I will always admire innocent, trusting Irene and brave Curdie. These are characters to be emulated. Another priceless tale of adventure and bravery.
